How did you get into Pharma?
My journey into the pharmaceutical industry began by completing an undergraduate degree in physiology and pharmacology at Westminster University. I was always fascinated by the science behind how the human body works and how medications can influence health outcomes. After completing my degree, I sought opportunities that would allow me to apply my knowledge in a practical setting, which led me to an entry-level role as a Clinical Research Assistant at a leading CRO. This role gave me hands-on experience with clinical trials, from managing study documentation to supporting clinical operations. As I gained experience, I realised that I wanted to play a more integral role in the drug development process, which motivated me to pursue a master’s degree in Translational Medicine at Imperial College. This not only deepened my understanding of how scientific discoveries are brought from the lab to the patient but also opened doors to more senior roles within the industry. Over time, I transitioned into project management roles, eventually becoming a Study Operations Manager.
Why Pharma?
I chose pharma because I have always been passionate about healthcare, a drive deeply rooted in my experiences growing up in a region affected by civil war where access to medicine was severely limited. Witnessing firsthand the impact of inadequate healthcare on people's lives motivated me to contribute to improving access and quality of medical treatments. Working in the pharmaceutical industry allows me to pursue this mission by helping to develop and deliver essential therapies to those in need.
